Will BikePAC of Oregon survive?

Currently there is one officer position open and it still has one year before it was supposed to be up for re-election, Legislative Director.  Also, the Secretary/Treasurer position has been filled for the last 2+ years by Mel Yeager on a volunteer basis.  This is due to no-one stepping up to take the position.  Well, Mel is retiring from politics for good and his last day will be the Motorcycle Awareness Rally 2012.  Also, due to health concerns, the current Executive Director, Nic Oliver, will be stepping down at the end of his current term.  His last official act as Executive Director will be to present to the motorcycling community the new Officers for BikePAC at the Motorcycle Awareness Rally.

All positions have been changed to 2 year positions in the By-Laws and for 2012-2014 positions, voting will take place at the April 2012 meeting for the positions of Executive Director 2012-2014, Membership Director 2012-2014, Legislative Director 2011-2013 (one year left till re-election due), Secretary/Treasurer 2011-2013 (one year left till re-election due).

If there are not any volunteers to step up to these positions very soon, there will be vacancies in every  Executive Board position except Membership Director.  BikePAC would then be unable to continue and would have to close their doors.  This would be a catastrophic blow to the motorcycling community's ability to protect itself in the Oregon Legislature.  BikePAC is a registered PAC (Political Action Committee) and is able to do things in the Capital that regular citizens and ABATE of Oregon Inc are unable to do.

The choice in yours.  Does BikePAC of Oregon survive or die?  If the two vacant positions remain vacant past April 2012, and no-one steps up to the other one then BikePAC dies.

Is this what you want?

Nic Oliver – Executive Director
